When is Fumigation Necessary?
Fumigation is necessary when a pest infestation has become severe and cannot be effectively controlled through less invasive methods. This treatment is often recommended for pests like termites, bed bugs, or wood-boring beetles that infiltrate deep into the structure of your home or building. If left untreated, these pests can cause serious damage to your property, resulting in costly repairs and potential safety hazards. Fumigation targets these hidden pests by penetrating walls, floors, and furniture, reaching areas that sprays or baits cannot.
Another scenario where fumigation may be required is when pests pose health risks to occupants. For example, rodent infestations can spread dangerous diseases, while certain insect infestations may compromise hygiene and trigger allergies. If you’ve noticed damage to your property, droppings, unusual odors, or pest sightings despite repeated prevention efforts, it might be time to consider fumigation. The thorough and highly effective process gives you confidence that your home or business will be pest-free and safe once the treatment is complete.

Our Three-Day Tenting and Fumigation Process
Because we know your time is valuable and because we want you to get back to a pest-free home as quickly as possible, we’ve developed a fast yet effective three-day tenting and fumigation process.
Day One
On the first day of fumigation, our trained crew begins by carefully covering your entire structure with large, durable tarps. These tarps are secured tightly to the ground with “sand snakes” to create an airtight seal around the foundation and any attached areas of the building.
Inside, a licensed fumigator prepares the structure by removing any food, medications, plants, and living beings, including people and pets, for a safe and thorough process. The fumigator also opens doors, drawers, and storage areas to enhance the circulation of the fumigant. Fans are strategically placed to help the gas penetrate deep into cracks, crevices, and wood, maximizing effectiveness. A warning agent, chloropicrin, is applied to designated spots to alert anyone of the presence of the fumigant. For additional safety, all entryways to the structure are secured with secondary locks, and warning signs are posted around the property.
Once preparations are complete and the property is sealed, the correct dosage of Vikane® gas fumigant is introduced. This gas penetrates deep into wooden areas, effectively eradicating termites and other pests at the source.
Day Two
The second day of the fumigation process focuses on aerating the structure. Once the fumigant has had adequate time to permeate the building and eliminate pests, our licensed fumigator initiates the ventilation process. By opening specially installed inlet and outlet ventilation systems, the fumigator begins to safely release any residual fumigant. This step is critical for removing the gas completely and creating a safe environment. The aeration process is closely monitored throughout the day for compliance with safety standards and state regulations.
